The story mainly follows Westley, the farm-hand turned pirate in his attempt to rescue Buttercup from the kidnappers and the evil Prince Humperdink with the help of the whimsical characters along the way.ens to destroy the community.
The Princess Bride is a delightful fantasy drama for children of all ages based on the book of the same name by William Goldman. This classic damsel-in-distress love story has sword fights and suspense, as well as tender moments for the romantically aspiring tween.
Director Rob Reiner uses the character of the sick boy to critique the genre of fairy tales with breaks in Buttercup and Westley’s plot by interrupting romantic scenes out of the boy’s disgust or implausible happenings through his disbelief. However, by the end of the movie the young boy cannot get enough of the pirates, giants, thieves, princes, and magic.
The movie is rated PG because of allusions to death, kissing, and some characters might frighten a young child.[/tab]
