Corona Virus Precautions

Corona Virus Precautions

Messages, emails and word of mouth spread ample information. However, not all of it is verified or from a trusted source. Misinformation is ruling the online space at this moment, with people trying a variety of home remedies to combat a virus which does not have a cure yet. At this point, isolation within homes is the most effective way to keep yourself and your family safe. There are other precautions to take into consideration during these trying times, that reduce the chance of infection or transmission of the virus. Brief your family on these measures and trust only government or WHO verified information.

HAND WASHING

Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly for 20 seconds in order to effectively kill the germs present on your skin. Use an alcohol based sanitiser or rub if you do not have access to running water and an antibacterial soap. Make sure to turn off the tap while you lather your hands in order to avoid water wastage. Multiple videos are available online to teach you the correct way in which to wash your hands correctly and effectively.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

It has come to the point where isolation, rather than social distancing is the norm for the forseeable future. However, in only neccessary situations, a need to leave the house may arise. This can be for essential reasons alone, such as groceries and medicines. In that case, ensure you maintain 3 feet distance from other people. Avoid entering crowded stores and stay away from groups of people. If you do feel the need to sneeze or cough, do so into a clean tissue which is immediately discarded OR into the crook of your bent elbow. Avoid people who are sneezing or coughing as droplets (however microscopic) spray forth from the mouth and nose and spread the virus.

AVOID TOUCHING EYES, NOSE & MOUTH

Hands touch multiple surfaces through the day, including surfaces touched by those infected with the virus. Though skin cannot absorb the virus, touching an infected surface and then your eyes, nose or mouth, can transfer the infection to you. It is a simple habit to inculcate and can go a long way in protecting you and your family against the virus.

Additionally, carry a sanitiser with you when you leave the house and return home as soon as your tasks are completed. Now is the time to practice these habits to keep you and your family safe.
