Healthy Snacking Options

Healthy Snacking Options

Not enough stress can be placed on the need to swap out unhealthy junk food with healthier (yet easy to make) options. Here are a few simple snacks which can be whipped together whenever needed.

  1. Slices of apple smeared with peanut butter.

A lovely combination of sweet and nutty, the crispiness of a slice of apple is delicious against the smooth (or chunky, if you choose) peanut butter. This easy to assemble snack is yummy AND healthy!

  1. Easy to make hung yoghurt dip with vegetable dippers.

This snack is easy to tweak – you can omit or add vegetables your children dislike or like as dippers. The hung curd can be flavoured with finely chopped spring onions, chives, or freshly chopped herbs.

  1. Roasted mixed nuts with a sweet and salty dusting.

High in antioxidants, nuts are easily available and a tasty, crunchy snack. Keep the nuts in an airtight jar to help them last longer.

  1. Devilled eggs

Hard boil eggs and slice them in half to scoop out the yolk. Add a bit of mayonnaise (or hung curd) and seasoning and mash the yolk until creamy. Using a small teaspoon or piping bag (if you’re feeling fancy), fill the empty hollows back again with the yolk mixture. These make for a yummy and protein rich snack.
