The Story Merchants: Spin a Story – Toy Review

The Story Merchants: Spin a Story – Toy Review

The Story Merchants are known for their ability to create fun and interactive games that help develop a child’s language, storytelling and vocabulary skills. Most children shy away from traditional flashcards to help develop their skills as they have limited interaction and can feel boring.

‘Spin a Story’ is a new game from the Story Merchants, which focuses on the development of a child’s vocabulary skills, while simultaneously stimulating their imagination and creative skills. The game comes with 90 wonderfully illustrated flashcards – each one with a different word on it. The cards can fall into three categories - ‘Who’, ‘What’ and ‘Where’. By using different cards from each category, children have to test their imagination and create stories.

This game is a creative way to introduce your child to the world of storytelling. Parents no longer have to be the sole storytellers in the family. Children can create magical narratives to share with the entire family. The act of telling stories will also boost their confidence and help them develop creativity. By allowing a child to create and tell their own stories, they are also being granted independence and developing their sense of oral fluency.
