If you are a dog lover, then ‘A Dog’s Journey’ is the film for you. It follows the life of a dog named Bailey – who reincarnates and returns in the film many times. He is first seen as an elderly St. Bernard/Australian shepherd mix and for the fourth and final time, as a Yorkshire terrier named Max. Bailey finds purpose in his life and subsequent reincarnations when he understands that he must take care of his owner Ethan and his family – a promise he makes early on in the film.
Baily returns in many forms to ensure Ethan’s granddaughter C.J. is happy and comfortable, returning to her as a Beagle named Molly and in the end as Max, who is adopted by C.J. The film comes full circle as Max returns back to Ethan’s farm, with C.J., where the story first began.
This film reminds us of the devotion dogs feel for their owners and the lengths they could go to in order to ensure their families are happy. The characters are loveable and you will find yourself tearing up more than once. A moving sequel to ‘A Dog’s Purpose’ released in 2017, this film delivers with a wonderfully apt cast which includes Josh Gad as Bailey and Dennis Quaid as Ethan.
