Huli People of Papua New Guinea
Hey guys, I’m still wandering around Papua New Guinea, and guess who I met? The Huli tribe that lives in Papua New Guinea! A recent study says that their population is around 1,50,000 and they have lived in their current area for about 1000 years! The Huli men are known to be fierce warriors and skilled hairstylists as they craft flamboyant wigs out of their own hair! In fact, the ‘wigmen’ run a school where males in their late teenage years and early 20’s leave their community behind and go to a Bachelor school, where they are taught about manhood and how to make beautiful wigs! I’m sure their designs are inspired by the fancy and beautiful Bird of Paradise that live in this very region.
By the way, do you see the fancy headdress I’m wearing? It was gifted to me by these tribesmen! Super Cool right?
