Why does Hair turn White?

Answer me | 7-14 yrs | Reading Pod

What causes White Hair?!

Ever heard your parents blame you for their white hair? While they’re not completely wrong, you are not the only reason at play for their hair color.

Keratin is the protein that makes up our hair, skin, and nails. Throughout the years, melanocyctes (pigment cells) continue to inject pigment into the hair’s keratin, giving it a colorful hue.

A number of factors such as age, hormones, genetic distribution climate, pollution, chemical exposure etc. are responsible for the regulation of exhaustion of melanin.

With age comes a reduction of melanin, meaning hair turns gray and eventually white. Stress also causes a reduction in melanin, which is probably why your parents blame you.

Weird Fact about Hair

Plucking one gray hair will not cause three to grow in its place. That’s just an old wives’ tale!
