Who is Ekaterina Gamova?
Ekaterina Gamova is a retired volleyball player who was on the Russian national team. At 6 feet 9 inches, she plays the position of putside hitter/ opposite. As one of the top scorers and top blockers in all her events she has been named Best Scorer, Best Blocker and Most Valuable Player several times.
Where did she grow up?
Ekaterina was born on 17th October 1980 in Chelyabinsk, Russia. She began her volleyball tour with the Junior World Championships in 1999 and was the youngest player on the team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Although she was used sparingly on the team, the 19 year old proved her worth in silver. 4 years later, she was amongst the top players in the women’s volleyball circuit. As one of the top scorers and top blockers in all her events she has been named Best Scorer, Best Blocker and Most Valuable Player several times.
Although Ekaterina shines individually, it takes a team to bring home the medals. In London 2012 Gamova will represent Russia on the national team and will do everything in her power to achieve gold for herself, her team, and her country.

Team won the gold medals at the 2006 and 2010 Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) Women’s World Championship
Silver medal at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 with the national team.
Winner of silver medal at Athens Olympics 2004 .
